JOHANNESBURG – POPCRU President Thulani Ngwenya says that insurance companies need to play their part and do due diligence.
Ngwenya was speaking after 43-year-old Rachel Shokane Kutumela was arrested for insurance payout killings.
Kutumela allegedly killed at least six people to claim benefits against them.
She appeared in the Polokwane Magistrate’s court on Friday.
Kutumela is charged with 19 counts including murder, fraud and defeating the ends of justice.
She is accused of listing herself as a beneficiary and claiming over R10 million since 20219.
Ngwenya says that insurers are only interested in profits and not people.
The State says that it will oppose bail.
